Who Would Have Known It Was Happening #1

When I first read this, I couldn’t believe it was even in consideration.

The State of Florida is preparing a new ban on the practice of fishermen, who fish close to the beaches, will be prohibited from throwing chum in the water.

I am sure that we have all seen this if we have lived near the ocean or large lake, but not close to the beaches. This technique, often used for sharks, involves scattering blood, oil and pieces of ground up fish to produce a slick bringing sharks and other fish closer to the baited hooks.

Unfortunately, we can’t control currents and the slicks have been moving too close to the shore and bringing unwanted sharks and other unwanted predators close to shore and people in the water.

Thank goodness that the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is taking this problem up and pushing the ban forward. Bet you that other States need this ban!
